My Journey with AI: From Curiosity to Transformation

The Moment Everything Changed

November 2022 marked a turning point in my professional journey – the day I first encountered ChatGPT. What began as a simple experiment to enhance my freelance projects quickly evolved into something much deeper. The technology didn’t just help me; it transformed how I articulated ideas, crafted proposals, and approached problem-solving. Each interaction left me more fascinated than the last.

From Civil Engineering to AI Innovation

January 2023 marked the beginning of my fifth year in engineering school. I found myself deep in conversation with ChatGPT for over three hours, brainstorming my Civil Engineering final year project. The challenge was immense since there were clear instructions of coming up with a unique project that had not been done in not only our university but also the whole country at large.

Armed with AI as my collaborator, I meticulously searched each idea through databases provided by the school, stretching back to the 1980s, determined to find uncharted territory. When I finally identified a unique concept, AI helped me understand it better and found more articles and supporting evidence. I then added new variables and testing conditions to make it even more unique. This resulted in a very physically demanding project that involved casting and testing over 100 concrete cubes and cylinders, but hey, it was unique and intriguing.

The project was so unique that it captivated my university panel. These civil engineering professors weren’t just impressed, they were invested, requesting regular updates and eagerly awaiting the results. This level of research could not be achieved without AI, especially in 3 hours. This experience revealed to me AI’s true power: not just as a tool, but as a catalyst for groundbreaking innovation. My interest in AI only grew with time and the release of each new model. I knew I wanted my future deep in this revolution happening before my very eyes.

The Pivot to AI Automation

While I graduated with my B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in June 2024, my passion had irrevocably shifted. I immersed myself in specialized AI courses, systematically building my understanding and credibility in this revolutionary field. I played with new AI tools for the curiosity of it, and each release and update cemented my thoughts of an inevitable AI-integrated future.

As I explored various AI disciplines, automation emerged as the area where my passion and potential impact aligned perfectly. The applications for businesses were clear: processes that once required days could be completed in minutes, teams could focus on innovation rather than repetition, and organizations could scale without the traditional resource (e.g. labour and capital) constraints.

From Learner to Guide

The more I discovered, the stronger my conviction grew – AI isn’t just changing business; it’s redefining what’s possible. This technology boils my blood and runs through my veins, fueling a daily commitment to deeper understanding and practical application.
